What is Layer by Layer?

We are uncle and nephew, and we share a common passion: the world of automobiles, motorcycles, and model making.
This project was born from a story that began over 40 years ago, when my uncle was just 13 years old and received his first model kits as a Christmas gift. What started as a childhood hobby gradually became, over the years, a true way of life.
Throughout all these years, my uncle has perfected his technique, turning that hobby into a genuine profession. Today, at 60 years old, he is a professional model maker to whom individuals and enthusiasts from all over the world entrust the creation of their models, seeking the highest level of detail, precision, and finish in every job.
Many years later, I began to appreciate all that work and dedication in a different way. My background as a mechanic and engineer, along with my knowledge acquired in the world of competition in categories such as SBK, Moto2, and Moto3, allowed me to understand the complexity behind each vehicle much more deeply and transfer that experience to the world of model making.
To this knowledge of the world of competition and mechanics, I added knowledge of 3D design, reverse engineering, and resin 3D printing, gradually creating a way of working that allows us to develop parts for model kits with an extremely high level of detail.
All of this takes place in a very special spot for us: my uncle's basement. What began as a hobby over 40 years ago has evolved into our small workspace, where we design, print, test, and perfect each piece. A place that, while it may seem simple, has become the heart of this project and a true model-making laboratory.
This is how we began to develop our own parts for model kits, seeking to reproduce each component with the highest possible level of detail. Our goal is not simply to manufacture a part, but to ensure that each one adds realism, precision, and personality to the model.
Little by little, we have been learning, trying new techniques, and perfecting our processes. Each project has allowed us to acquire new knowledge and find new ways to improve what we do.
At the same time, we are aware that the world of model making has changed a lot in recent years. New generations have grown up surrounded by video game consoles, technology, and an increasingly digital age, causing the hobby of building models to lose prominence. However, we believe that technology can precisely be a way to keep this passion alive and bring it closer to a new generation of enthusiasts.
3D printing, digital design, and reverse engineering allow us to do something that would have been much more complicated years ago: create small, ultra-detailed parts that were previously difficult or even impossible to find. We want to leverage these new tools to continue bringing model making to life and demonstrate that building a model still has something special.
Over time, we realized that all this work could also be interesting for other model-making enthusiasts. That's why we decided to take another step and create our online store, with the intention of sharing our parts and making our work available to other model makers who, like us, enjoy taking their models a step further.
We are still the same two as always: my uncle and I, working together, continuously learning, and putting our passion for the motor world and model making into every piece we manufacture.
Because behind every piece there is much more than design, testing, and hours of work. There is a story that began with a Christmas gift for a 13-year-old boy and that, 47 years later, has ended up uniting two generations who have blended experiences, knowledge, and passion to create what we are today. What started with a small model kit has become our project, and now we want to continue sharing it with enthusiasts from all over the world.
Welcome to our project and thank you for helping us make it grow.
